You need: stiff natural/mixed fabric (cotton velvet, fabric suitable for suits); fusing, lining, zipper, 1 zipper for inner pocket, snaps.

 

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS PROVIDED,

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE SINGLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS NOT PROVIDED.

 

Seam allowances: 1 cm for all seams.

 

ATTENTION! Before sewing, print paper patterns and lay them out according to the linen width (from 90 to 150 cm) to find out how much material you need (do not forget about double and symmetric details).

 

WHEN SEWING, BE CAREFUL WITH NOTCHES – THEY MUST BE COINCIDING!

 

CUTTING:

 

Fabric:

1. Main part – 2 pieces

2. Pocket – 1 piece

3. Bottom – 1 piece

4. Handle – 2 pieces

 

Lining:

1. Main part – 2 pieces

2. Pocket – 1 piece

3. Bottom – 1 piece

4. Large sacking – 1 piece

5. Small sacking – 1 piece

 

Fusing: main part, pockets, bottom and handles.

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

 

1. Apply the fusing to wrong side of main part, pockets, bottom and handles.

 

2. Lay pocket lining on the pocket right sides together and overstitch them along upper edge. Fold the pocket into wrong side. Make a stitch at 0.5 cm from upper edge. Set snaps as marked. Lay the pocket on main part and topstitch as marked.

 

3. Stitch main parts to the bottom coinciding contours of pockets/main part/bottom. Fold allowances toward the bottom and topstitch them at 0.5 cm distance.

 

4. Mark inner pocket at the lining. Strengthen zipper place with the fusing. Cut a slit along the pocket entrance, make slashes at 1-1.5 cm from pocket end. Fold seam allowances into left side. Lay the zipper under pocket entrance edge with its teeth visible. Topstitch pocket entrance at 0.2 cm front the edge. Stitch large sacking to zipper upper braid, stitch small sacking to lower braid. Stitch lining edges.

 

5. Stitch lining bottom to lining main parts leaving a hole in one of seams for turning the bag right side out.

 

6. Lay the bag and the lining right sides together and overstitch along upper edge inserting the zipper.

 

7. Turn the bag right side out. Stitch the hole.

 

8. Prepare bag’s upper corners: zipper must be in the middle.

 

9. Fold handle along the center wrong side out and overstitch long edges. Turn the handle right side out and press it.

 

10. Fold handle’s short edges into wrong side. Set the handle on the bag and topstitch (zipper’s ends must be in the handle).
