On the pattern pieces, “beam” means straight of grain. Lay out your pieces accordingly. Some pieces will be cut on the fold. This is noted on the pattern piece. Mark all notches and other design features such as pleats etc. from the pattern onto your fabric.
When sewing the garment, pay attention to notches, they must match up.
Main fabric:
1. Upper center back – cut 1 2. Upper side back – cut 2 3. Back inset – cut 1
4. Lower back – cut 1
5. Side – cut 2
6. Lower front – cut 2
7. Front inset – cut 2
8. Upper side front – cut 2
9. Upper center front – cut 2
10. Stand collar – cut 2
11. Buttonstand (center front facing) – cut 2 12. Back neck facing – cut 1
13. Belt right – cut 1
14. Belt left – cut 1
Lining:
1. Upper center back – cut 1
2. Upper side back – cut 2
3. Lower back lining – cut 1
4. Side – cut 2
5. Lower front lining – cut 2
6. Upper side front – cut 2
7. Upper center front lining – cut 2
Attention: Lining of back is cut using main pattern pieces except for the width of back neckline facing.
Fusible interfacing:
1. Stand collar – cut 1
2. Buttonstand (center front facing) – cut 2 3. Back neck facing – cut 1
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Apply fusible interfacing.
2. Fold belts in half lengthwise right sides together and sew along long side and one short side. Turn pieces right side out, straighten, press.
3. Sew princess seams on upper back, press seam apart. Sew inset to back, press seam allowances towards inset. Sew lower back to inset, press seam allowances towards inset. Sew outer stand collar into neckline.
4. Sew princess seams on upper front, press seam apart. Sew inset to front, press seam allowances towards inset. Sew lower front to inset, press seam allowances towards inset.
5. Sew side to back, press seam allowances towards side. Sew side to front, inserting belt into left seam, press seam allowances towards side.
6. Sew and press apart shoulder edges.
7. Sew inner stand collar into neckline facings. Sew and press apart shoulder seams of back neckline facing and buttonstand. Thread buckle into right belt. Pin buttonstands and facings onto front, right sides together,, pin together and sew buttonstand, neckline and lower corner of buttonstand, inserting belt with buckle. Trim away corners. Topstitch seam allowance of outer edge of buttonstand onto buttonstand. Place stitch line at 0,2 cm from seam. Turn buttonstnds (center front edges) right side out onto right side, straighten seams. Press lower edge of garment. 8. Sew seams on lining, leaving an opening for turning in front right seam. Sew lining to inner edges of buttonstands and to back neckline facing.
9. Sew lining to lower edge of vest. Sew armholes. Turn the vest right side out through the opening. Sew the opening closed.
10. Make buttonhole on left front. Sew on a hidden button correspondingly.
