5037 STRIPED TROUSERS
YOU NEED: wool/semi-wool; zipper (length depends
on your size); 1 button.
ATTENTION! Before sewing, print paper patterns and lay them out according to the linen width (from 90 to 150
cm) to find out how much material you need (do not forget about double and
symmetric details).
WHEN SEWING, BE
CAREFUL WITH NOTCHES – THEY MUST BE COINCIDING!

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Stitch darts, press depths towards the center.
2. MAKE slit “frame” pockets. Press 4 cm stripe of interfacing
on the back part’s wrong side above pocket marking.
Lay pipings on front part right sides together, pin
them along marked pocket entrance, then stitch along marking coinciding
lengthwise edges with pocket entrance line. Cut front part between stitches,
cutting stitch ends diagonally. Be careful with facings and sackings when
cutting! Press seam allowances towards the garment. Turn facings into wrong
side to make neat frames, then tack. Topstitch right side along the seam
joining the facing. Turn small triangles at slit ends into wrong side, then
topstitch on the facing between ends of stitches. Stitch free end of sackings
to free edges of facing joining seams’ allowances on wrong side. Then press
sackings downwards, adjust them, then stitch together.
3. Stitch side/leg inside seams. Neaten seam
allowances and press them apart. Stitch bowl’s edges download from bowl’s mark,
stitch middle back seam with the same seam.
4. Press closure one-piece facings into wrong side: on
the right edge – on the front middle line, on the left edge – on 1 cm distance
from front middle line (= closure allowance). Sew the zipper under closure
allowance edge (left edge) along the edge, with teeth closely to the bending.
Pin the slit coinciding front middle lines. Sew zipper free band to one-piece
facing of closure right edge. Do not catch garment right part’s fabric!
Topstitch right front part along the closure according to marking, catching the
facing.
5. Stitch the waistband to garment’s upper edge with
its ends ejecting the closure: 2 cm (left edge) under the closure, 5 cm (right
edge) on the closure. Turn half of waistband into right side and stitch ends
making short edges diagonally. Cut allowances close to stitches. Turn the
waistband right side out. Fold inner waistband under and sew by hand. Make a
buttonholes into right end, sew button on left one.
6. Neaten hems, press them into wrong side and sew by
hand.
