5177 LONG TUNIC

YOU NEED: silk of 150 cm width; crepe-satin of 140 cm width for plackets; fusing; 1 button.

CUTTING:

Fabric:

1. Front part – 2 pieces

2. Back part – 2 pieces

3. Sleeve – 2 pieces

Trimming:

4. Back neckline facing – 2 pieces

5. Front facing – 2 pieces

6. Sleeve facing – 2 pieces

Fusing: apply the facings.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Stitch front parts wrong sides together along middle seam excluding lower slit.

2. Stitch back parts right sides together along middle seam excluding upper slit. Press seams apart, press upper slit’s allowances into wrong side.

3. Press darts and shoulder seams.

4. Stitch shoulder seams of front/back neckline facings right sides together; stitch middle front seam excluding the slit. Press facing inner edges into wrong side slashing them in corners. Stitch neckline facing to neckline wrong side.

5. Trimming: cut a bias stripe of 5 cm length and 1.5 cm width and make narrow roll of it. Make a button loop (size depends on button’s diameter) and tack it to back slits’ left edge.

6. Slash facing joining seam's allowance into rounding several times. Turn facings into right side and stitch them to slit front edges. Tack neckline facing and middle front facing on the garment and topstitch long edges catching the loop.

7. Press sleeve facings’ upper edges into wrong side. Stitch facings’ right sides to sleeve hems’ wrong sides, fold them into right side and topstitch on sleeves.

8. Join sleeves into armholes. Stitch side seams and sleeves seams with the same stitch.

9. Press the hem into wrong side, fold it under and topstitch.

10. Sew a button on slit’s right edge so that slit edges meet.
