5342 DRESS WITH ASYMMETRIC SLIT

YOU WILL NEED: crepe-satin; zipper; iron-on interfacing.

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS PROVIDED,

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE SINGLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS NOT PROVIDED.

SEAM ALLOWANCE: 1 cm for all seams, 3 cm for hem.

ATTENTION! Before sewing, print paper patterns and lay them out according to the linen width (from 90 to 150 cm) to find out how much material you need (do not forget about double and symmetric pieces).

WHEN SEWING, BE CAREFUL WITH NOTCHES – THEY MUST BE MATCHING!

CUTTING:

Fabric:

1. Centre back – 2 pieces

2. Side back – 2 pieces

3. Right side front – 1 piece

4. Left side front – 1 piece

5. Lower front – 1 piece

6. Upper front – 2 pieces

7. Back facing – 2 pieces

8. Lower front facing – 1 piece

9. Sleeve – 2 pieces

Interfacing: one upper front piece, right front facing, back facing.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Apply the interfacing to the wrong side of the one upper front piece, right front facing, back facing.

2. Neaten the front/back facing raw edges and the upper front underlining piece raw edge. Neaten the back centre edges.

3. Neaten and stitch the upper front and lower front edges between hem and the mark. Press the seams open.

4. Stitch the front curves edges leaving a vent slit. Stitch the back curved edges.

5. Fold the lower front vent self-facings to the wrong side; press it. Make diagonal stitch on the lower front through the vent seam allowances.

6. Neaten and stitch the back centre edges leaving the closure slit. Press the seam open. Sew the zipper in with its teeth hidden.

7. Overstitch the lower front slit with the facing; pull the facing to the wrong side of the dress. Press.

8. With right sides together, stitch the upper front pieces the slit and neckline. Trim and notch the rounded seam’s allowances. Turn it right side out and press. Stitch the lower facing to the inner edge of the upper front; then process these stitched pieces as one piece.

9. Neaten and stitch side edges. Press the seams open.

10. With right sides together, pin the back facing to the back, inserting the font shoulder edges between. Stitch the shoulder seams. Overstitch the back neckline with the facing. Turn the back facing to the wrong side.

11. Stitch and neaten the sleeve seams. Press them. Stitch the sleeves to the armholes according to the notches.

12. Press the sleeve/garment hems to the wrong side. Sew by hands with blind stitch.
