5734 PLEATED SKIRT

YOU NEED: natural/mixed fabric; fusing; lining; concealed zip; sheer fusing.

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS PROVIDED,

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE SINGLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS NOT PROVIDED.

SEAM ALLOWANCES: 1 cm for al seams, 2 cm for flounce hem.

ATTENTION! Before sewing, print paper patterns and lay them out according to the linen width (from 90 to 150 cm) to find out how much material you need (do not forget about double and symmetric details).

WHEN SEWING, BE CAREFUL WITH NOTCHES – THEY MUST BE COINCIDING!

CUTTING:

Fabric:

1. Center back skirt – 1 piece

2. Side back skirt – 2 pieces

3. Side front part – 2 pieces

4. Center front part – 1 piece

5. Back facing – 1 piece

6. Front facing – 1 piece

7. Flounce – 2 pieces

Lining:

1. Center back skirt – 1 piece

2. Side back skirt – 2 pieces

3. Side front part – 2 pieces

4. Center front part – 1 piece

NB: please cut lining front/back skirts without taking into account front/back facings’ width.

Fusing: front/back facings.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Apply the fusing to wrong side of facings.

2. Stitch back shaped edges. Press allowances toward center part and neaten them. Stitch front shaped edges. Press allowances toward center part and neaten them.

3. Stitch left side edge between closure mark and the hem. Press the seam apart pressing closure allowance, then neaten. Lay the zipper under allowances and stitch with its teeth invisible.

4. Stitch right side edges. Press the seam backward, then neaten.

5. Stitch facings’ right side edge, then press apart. Stitch lining pieces and neaten them in the same way as fabric one. Stitch the lining to facing’s lower edge. Lay facings on skirt upper edge right sides together and overstitch them. Topstitch the overstitching on the facings at 0.2 cm from overstitching seam. Press facings into wrong side. Fold lining closure slit’s allowances into wrong side and sew them to zipper braids.

Neaten lining hem, press it into wrong side, then topstitch.

6. Stitch flounces in a ring. Press seam allowances apart and neaten them. Neaten lower edge. Press lower allowance into wrong side and fix it with sheer fusing. Press pleats as marked. Lay the flounce on skirt hem right sides together, then stitch. Press the allowance toward the skirt and neaten it.
